Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi said that discussions are on to sign Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the governments of Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Indonesia.
“We’re working sincerely to sign FTAs with different countries while discussions are on to sign FTAs with Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Indonesia,” he said.
The commerce minister was addressing a seminar titled “Ease of Doing Business: Way Forward” held at a city hotel organized by the Bangladesh Chamber of Industry (BCI), said a ministry press release.
He said that the issue of signing FTAs with some other countries is under consideration of the government.
Tipu said the government is working relentlessly to improve further the investment climate in the country as well as further simplifying trade and commerce.
Chaired by BCI President Anwarul Alam Chowdhury Parvez, NBR Chairman Md Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan, Principal Coordinator on SDG Affairs at the PMO Abul Kalam Azad, BEZA Executive Chairman Md Serazul Islam and former FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin spoke, among others, at the seminar.
