The Bangladesh Trade Portal (BTP) is an official source of all regulatory information relevant to traders who wish to import goods into Bangladesh or export to other countries. The Ministry of Commerce of the Bangladesh Government has established the Portal in order to improve the predictability and transparency of the country’s trading laws and processes.

Bangladesh's RMG to enter Brazil, Russia within 18 months

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi on Thursday said that the Bangladeshi RMG export items would be able to enter the markets of Brazil and Russia within the next one and a half years.
"Efforts are on to enter into new markets to boost the country's export earnings and we'll have to sustain the competitive global market through competition," he said.
The minister was addressing at the inaugural ceremony of a discussion meeting and three-day machineries exposition titled "Sustainable development of apparel industry: prospects and obstacles" held at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the city, said a ministry press release.
Organized by Export Exhibition and supported by Sustainable and Renewable Energy Development Authority (SREDA), the function was addressed, among others, by former FBCCI President Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin, Founder of Innowell Engineering International Private Ltd Ferno Susai, former BKMEA President M Fazlul Haque, Bangladesh University of Textiles Prof Dr M Julhas Uddin and Managing Director of Apples Global Ltd Birendra Goyal.
Chaired by SREDA Chairman M Helal Uddin, the function was moderated by SREDA member Siddique Jobaer.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, the commerce minister said that Bangladesh's RMG industry has not come into the present sound condition overnight, rather it started from a very small scale.
"Bangladesh now holds the 2nd slot across the globe in RMG industry through overcoming various obstacles and around 84 percent of the country's export earnings come from this RMG sector," he added.
Tipu said the unexpected Rana Plaza Building Collapse incident had showed the path to the RMG industry to make a turnaround and that is why the number of modern and green factories in the country is on the rise. "Bangladesh is now much strong in the RMG industry."
Noting that despite various successes, the RMG producers are not being able to realize the just of their produces, he said:"We'll have to enhance our bargaining capacity and try to reduce the production cost,"
